من هفته گذشته در بروکسل در یک کنفرانس فوق‌العاده در رابطه با سیاست در قبال ایران شرکت کردم. چندین مقام سابق بلندپایه آمریکا از دولتهای پیشین و کنونی، از جمله سفرای سابق آمریکا در سازمان ملل جان بولتون و بیل ریچاردسون، مشاور امنیت ملی جیمز جونز، وزیر دادگستری پیشین ژنرال مایکل موکیزی و اعضای ارشد پارلمان اروپا گزینه‌ها برای مقابله با تهدیدهای ایران را مورد گفتگو قرار دادند. این کنفرانس به یک موضع قاطع علیه این رژیم، حمایت بیشتر از مخالفان ایرانی در کمپ اشرف و نیز حمایت از اپوزیسیون فراخواند.
یک هفته قبل از آن، ما در پارلمان اروپا مباحثه‌یی داشتیم در رابطه با وضعیت در ایران، و من در آن رژیم ایران را با آلمان نازی مقایسه کردم . ملاها تا این نقطه در سال جاری نزدیک به 100نفر را حلق‌آویز کرده‌اند . دو هفته پیش 10نفر تنها در یک روز پس از شلاق خوردن وحشیانه حلق‌آویز شدند. هر کسی که سعی کند نظرش را ابراز نماید، مانند فعال حقوق‌بشر و وکیل نسرین ستوده، هدف قرار می‌گیرد.
ملاها اکنون به دستگیری، شکنجه و حلق‌آویز والدین پناهندگان در کمپ اشرف، عراق، خانه 3400 عضو اپوزیسیون اصلی مجاهدین خلق روی آورده‌اند. همان‌طور که با قتل وحشتناک علی صارمی در اواخر دسامبر و 2 فعال دیگر در 25ژانویه با مجوز قانونی (judicial murder) مشاهده کردیم، صرفاً ملاقات با پسر یا دخترتان برای تضمین محکومیت مرگ در بازگشت شما به ایران کافی است . ملاها با استفاده از ترس و خشونت به‌عنوان تنها مکانیسم عملی کنترل بر یک جمعیت شدیداً آسیب دیده و انفجاری، مستاصلانه سعی می‌کنند به قدرت چنگ بیاندازند.
رژیم جانی تهران در تلاش رقت باری جهت تظاهر به اهانت، اپوزیسیون اصلی سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران را یک ”گروهک تروریستی“ توصیف می‌کند که گویی آنها مزاحم ناچیزی هستند. با این وجود، این به اصطلاح ”گروهک“ در تمامی ملاقاتها بین ملاها و همسایگان آنها در عراق، یا در تمامی ملاقاتها با نمایندگان اتحادیه اروپا و آمریکا در رأس تمامی برنامه ها وجود دارد.
واقعیت این است که آنها از سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران به یک میزان ترس و نفرت دارند، زیرا آنها تنها اپوزیسیون واقعی در برابر رژیم فاسد و فاشیستی آنها هستند . شبکه‌های سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران در داخل ایران تنها کسانی بودند که برای فاش کردن طرحهای مهاجمانه هسته‌یی این رژیم برای غرب جانشان را به خطر انداختند . به همین خاطر است که هدف شماره یک ملاها همان سمبل مقاومت در برابر رژیمشان است - کمپ اشرف.
من طبق تجارب شخصی خودم می‌دانم وقتی ما از خانم مریم رجوی، رئیس‌جمهور منتخب مقاومت ایران دعوت کردیم که برای سخنرانی در برابر گروه حاکم سیاسی ای.پی.پی (epp political group) به پارلمان اروپا بیآیند، این رژیم چقدر هیستریک شد .
ولی ما در آن نبردها پیروز شدیم. ما خانم رجوی را به پارلمان دعوت کردیم. ما دروغها و تحریفهایی که برای مشروع کردن لیست‌گذاری سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران در لیستهای سیاه تروریستی انگلیس و اتحادیه اروپا استفاده می‌شد را فاش کردیم و در پرونده‌های پی‌درپی دادگاه پیروز شدیم و سرانجام انگلیس و اتحادیه اروپا را به خارج کردن سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران از لیستهایشان و اعاده اعتبار آن به‌عنوان مبارزان مشروع برای آزادی و دموکراسی وادار کردیم. ما سیاست رقت‌بار مماشات که از ابتدا به این نامگذاری تروریستی منجر شد را برملا کردیم.
اکنون زمان آن است که آمریکا از متحدین خود در آنسوی آتلانتیک حمایت کند و سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران را از لیست سیاهش خارج نماید .
مانند اکثریت شهروندان ایرانی، ما می‌دانیم که در داخل این رژیم هیچ آلترناتیو واقعی وجود ندارد. امید واقعی ده‌ها میلیون ایرانی سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران است، و به همین خاطر است که تهران از آنها می‌ترسد. ملاها فکر می‌کنند می‌توانند از پس غرب بر بیآیند، ولی نمی‌دانند چطور با سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران برخورد کنند.
آنها با غرب بازی می‌کنند، با گفتگو به هر قیمت غرب را وسوسه می‌کنند و در عین حال به‌طور مخفیانه سعی دارند اولین کلاهک هسته‌یی خود را تولید کنند. و ما هر بار فریب آن را می‌خوریم. بارونس اشتون ماه گذشته استانبول را با دست خالی‌ترک کرد. اگر ما به این وقت کشی ادامه بدهیم در نهایت باید قیمت زمان را بدهیم و این قیمت گزافی خواهیم داد.
در عین حال، ایران نفوذ شیطانی خود در سراسر خاورمیانه را گسترش می‌دهد. هزاران مأمور آموزش دیده رژیم ایران در تمامی لایه‌های جامعه عراق نفوذ کرده‌اند. در لبنان هم به همین شکل است. حزب‌الله برای ایران به‌عنوان یک نمونه زنده و موفق برای انقلاب در سراسر منطقه خدمت می‌کند.
ما باید این بازی مضحک ”قایم باشک“ را متوقف کنیم، سیاست شکست خورده مماشات را رها کنیم و قبل از این‌که ملاها در خاورمیانه به هژمونی برسند با آنها مقابله نماییم.
این به‌معنای حمله نظامی نیست. این به‌معنای حمایت از اپوزیسیون اصلی برای سرنگونی این دیکتاتوری فاشیستی است. به‌معنای خارج کردن مجاهدین خلق و شورای ملی مقاومت ایران از لیست تروریستی آمریکا است . به‌معنای به‌رسمیت شناختن اهمیت سمبلیک حفاظت از ساکنان شجاع کمپ اشرف است. به‌معنای متوقف کردن گفتگو با مستبدین و شروع گوش دادن به مردم است. حق مرد ایران برای مقاومت در برابر استبداد حاکم را به‌رسمیت بشناسید.
ما به حمایت از تلاشهای سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران و خانم رجوی برای ایجاد یک ایران دموکراتیک و بدون هسته‌یی، که به حقوق‌بشر احترام می‌گذارد و مجازات مرگ را لغو می‌کند نیازمند هستیم . این تنها راه برای برکنار کردن یک تئوکراسی تهدیدآمیز و راه دادن به ایرانی است که در این دوران متشنج، متضمن دموکراسی و ثبات در خاورمیانه است.
Struan Stevenson MEP: In Iran we must back the main opposition in overthrowing the fascist regime
Struan Stevenson is a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for Scotland. He is President of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Iraq and is also Chairman of the Friends of a Free Iran intergroup in the Parliament.
Last week in Brussels, I attended an extraordinary conference on the policy on Iran. Several high-ranking former US officials from administrations past and present, including former US ambassadors to the UN John Bolton and Bill Richardson, national security advisor James Jones, former attorney general Michael Mukasey and senior members of the European Parliament discussed options to counter the threats of Iran. The conference called for a firm stance against the regime, more protection of Iranian dissidents in Camp Ashraf as well as lending support for the opposition.
The week before, we had a debate at the European Parliament on the situation in Iran, where I compared the Iranian regime to Nazi Germany. The mullahs have hanged close to 100 people so far this year. Ten were hanged in a single day two weeks ago after being brutally flogged. Anyone who tries to speak out, such as human rights activist and lawyer, Nasrin Sotoudeh, is targeted.
The mullahs have now taken to arresting, torturing and hanging the parents of refugees in Camp Ashraf, Iraq, home to 3,400 members of the main opposition Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK). Simply visiting your son or daughter is enough to guarantee a death sentence when you return to Iran, as we saw with the horrific judicial murder of Ali Saremi in late December and two other activists on January 25. The mullahs are desperately trying to cling to power by using fear and brutality as their only viable control mechanism over an increasingly traumatised and volatile population.
In a pathetic attempt to appear dismissive, the criminal regime in Tehran describes the principal opposition PMOI as a ‘terrorist grouplet’ as if they are an insignificant nuisance. Yet this so-called ‘grouplet’ features on top of every agenda at every meeting between the mullahs and their neighbours in Iraq, or at every meeting with representatives from the EU and the US.
The truth is that they fear and loathe the PMOI in equal measure because they are the only realistic opposition to their corrupt, fascist regime. The PMOI networks inside Iran were the ones who risked their lives to expose the regime’s aggressive nuclear plans to the West. That is why the mullahs’ number one target is that iconic symbol of resistance to their regime – Camp Ashraf.
I know from my own personal experience how hysterical the regime became when we invited Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, to come to the European Parliament to address the ruling EPP Political Group.
But we won those battles. We invited Mrs Rajavi to the Parliament. We exposed the lies and distortions used to justify the PMOI’s listing on the British and EU terror blacklists and in successive court cases we were victorious, finally forcing the British and the EU to remove the PMOI from their lists and to restore their reputation as valid campaigners for freedom and democracy. We exposed the wretched policy of appeasement which led to the terrorist listing in the first place.
It is now time for the US to side with its allies across the Atlantic and remove the PMOI from its own blacklist.
Like the majority of Iranian citizens, we know that there is no realistic alternative inside the regime. The real hope of tens of millions of Iranians is the PMOI, which is why they are feared by Tehran. The mullahs believe they can handle the West, but they don’t know how to deal with the PMOI.
They play games with the West, stretching out the West’s obsession with dialogue at any price, while secretly trying to produce their first nuclear warhead. And we fall for it again and again. Baroness Ashton left Istanbul empty handed last month. If we go on playing for time we will end up paying for time and we will pay dearly.
At the same time, Iran spreads its evil influence across the Middle East. Thousands of trained agents of the Iranian regime have infiltrated every strata of Iraqi society. It is the same in Lebanon. For Iran, Hezbollah serves as a live and successful model for revolutions across the region.
We must stop this ludicrous game of ‘hide and seek’, abandon the failed policy of appeasement and confront the mullahs before they gain hegemony in the Middle East.
That doesn’t mean armed invasion. It means backing the main opposition in overthrowing the fascist dictatorship. It means taking the MEK and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) off the US terror list. It means recognising the symbolic importance of and providing protection for the brave residents of Camp Ashraf. It means stop talking to the despots and start listening to the people. Recognise the Iranian people’s right to resist the ruling tyranny.
We need to back the PMOI and Mrs. Rajavi in their efforts to create a democratic and nuclear-free Iran that respects human rights and abolishes the death penalty. That is only way to remove a threatening theocracy and give way to an Iran that harbours democracy and stability in the Middle East in these volatile times.
